Featured projectsWhat We'd Like to See

The following open source projects are recommendations that we'd like to see developed. We welcome your suggestions, and we encourage user participation in the community to drive development. If you are aware of a program that is being actively developed and maintained by the open source community that fits these descriptions, please let us know!

VirtualBox Webmin Module

VirtualBox is a great tool for running multiple servers on a single headless machine, but when you go headless, you can't use VirtualBox's beautiful GUI. There is a very real need for a straightforward Webmin module that can replace the GUI to provide the basic functions of creating and maintaining VirtualBox servers remotely. This should be a fairly trivial project, since the underlying project has already provided all the necessary command-line interfaces that need to be hooked.

New Projects

These are projects we think are worth mentioning, or that we've contributed to. Our focus is usually on improving the user experience, and to that end, these projects are usually focused on developing GUIs and frontends that make valuable or otherwise complex tools easier for regular users.

Radio Recorder GUI

Streamripper makes it possible to time-shift radio, just as a DVR or VCR makes it possible to time-shift TV. In fact, a DVR splits your shows into separate files and titles them so that you can easily find and watch the program of your choice anytime. Streamripper does the exact same thing, but for radio. However, its interface is text-based, and could be difficult for new users to understand. Radio Recorder GUI is a frontend that makes it easy to use.
